Wizkid Flies To Sign Sony Deal ,Does Olamide Need An International Collaboration?.

After a prolonged battle between Sony Music and Universal music, the two major music Distribution Giants in the world, Wizkid, 26, decided to join Davido in Sony, amid a mouth-watering and lucrative deal.

Naijaloaded.com.ng can not independently confirm, but impeccable sources talk sey the “Holla At Your Boy” singer will receive a staggering 7 figure advance (in US Dollars) and sign to RCA Records, who will handle his distribution deal in the United States. Incredible!!!!

Star-boy going really big internationally is a positive step for the singer’s career.

However, you don’t really need a fling with the big boys abroad to actually make your songs go international. Well according to street rapper Olamide.

“I will never pay for an international collaboration, Fela never did any international collaboration neither did he lobby or pay for any international collaboration, and his music went as far as all over the world.” Olamide replied when he was asked if he would pay for an international collaboration.

Over the years, Olamide, 27, has continued to dominate the Naija music scene ever since the release in 2012 of his sophomore album titled ‘YBNL’.

“He was relevant while alive and even
after his death, his music was much sought after, so why would I want to pay for an international collaboration because I want to remain relevant in the music industry”, Olamide continued.

We have created a POLL however to get the opinion of Naijaloadites firsthand, if it is time for the YBNL boss Olamide to start knocking the doors for an international collaboration.

Drop Ur Comments.

Davido Have Not Released Any Song In 11 Months And Fans Are Blaming Sony Music.

We see Davido working, but he has no released song to show for it and sadly he’s in an industry where only results count.

Believe it or not, the last official song released by Nigeria pop star, Davido was ‘The Money’ featuring Olamide on November 7, 2015.

At the time when ‘The Money’ was released, it was meant to be the single that’ll precede the release of Davido’s sophomore album. The album didn’t drop, but fans were pleasantly pleased a few months later when Davido signed a first of its kind global deal with Sony Music worldwide.

Davido’s team at that time of the Sony deal in January 2016, explained that the album was delayed because of logistics relating to the new deal.

So the wait for a new Davido song began in January 2016.

Weeks after the Sony deal, it was announced that Davido was all set to release an EP titled Son Of Mercy.

Weeks turned to months and nothing happened, yet fans of Davido see him recording new songs daily on Snapchat.

Then a glimmer of hope came when Davido announced September 9, 2016 as the release date of his new song.

Unfortunately, Davido failed again!

Now, his fans are worried and they are blaming SONY music for the lack of new songs from Davido.

Make no mistake, despite the fact that the HKN huncho has been in the United States for over three months, in the 11 months since he dropped a song of his own, Davido his featured on 24 collaborations and many more unreleased collabos.

Pundits believe that Davido has managed to remain relevant and buzzing with number of collaborations he’s done.

We see Davido working, but he has no released song to show for it and sadly he’s in an industry where only results count.

Kunle Afolayan Claps Back At Haters Who Criticized Suggestions To Mark Zuckerberg.

Ace Nollywood filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has hit back at critics who berated him for suggesting to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg that Nollywood content should be monetised on the platform.

During his recent visit to Nigeria, Zuckerberg had sought audience with Nollywood stakeholders and Afolayan approached on him on developing a way content providers could earn from their contents.

Taking to Facebook video yesterday afternoon, the ace filmmaker in two short videos addressed critics who felt he shouldn’t have bothered the Facebook founder with challenges of Nollywood and should have reverted instead to broaching such issues with president Muhammadu Buhari.

“I just want to correct this notion,” started Afolayan, who believed otherwise.

“My meeting with Mark of Facebook was not an accident… I was contacted by Facebook team weeks before his arrival in Nigeria. And I didn’t even know he was going to come but when he came, I was privileged to meet him.

“As an artiste and also an entrepreneur, for me, growth is what I am so interested in. It’s what I would always advocate for… I mean, Facebook can come to Nigeria, they can speak to us, they can look at how to expand their businesses. But what are we getting back in return? A lot of us post our contents on Facebook and we pay. So, why can’t we also put content on Facebook and monetise it?”
The filmmaker whose latest movie, The CEO, has been generating waves globally however, believes thinks that it is some unsuccessful people with online platforms that were throwing snide remarks at him.

“Of course, I got a lot of positive comments, especially from people who are forward-looking and people who believe in growth or in potentials… but there are some people, losers, out there, you know, who either have interest in… maybe they have their own platforms and they’re not doing so well and they’re wondering, why do we have to go to Facebook? Or they are wondering, is he the only one?

“I think that is one of the problems we have around here. We always, instead of us supporting what we have, have all of us coming together and doing collaboration… Some of us, when you see someone growing, all they want to do is ‘bring the person down.’

“What is wrong with when you put your content online on their platform, it generates revenue for you and it’s a win-win situation for everybody? Things like this don’t really bother me because, look, I am destined to be where I am. It is not by my making. And anybody who is trying to emulate the same thing, I’m very sure that if they put their mind to it, I’m sure you’re definitely going to get there. But all of those negative comments, especially from those jobless people who have no other thing but sit on blogs. And if you see their comments, you will anonymous because they are losers, they are failures, they have nothing going for them and all they like to do is look at someone who is growing or who is doing something good and they just want to bring the person down.”

Afolayan who is already garnering major recognition globally also thanked his supporters and all those whose support Nigerian entertainment.

The video generated so much comments, most of which commended Afolayan and asked him not to bother with ‘haters’ who thought differently.

A commenter, Famurewa Simbo, said; “I AV seen a lot of great vlogs by Nigerians and wondered how they will make money in return based on views and like monetize it like it’s happening on YouTube… So Kunle made a great suggestions towards that and now people re criticizing? This is ridiculous.”

Also, Eshiomomoh Ifoga, said; “I wish you could just ignore those negative vibes. We are very proud of you,” while Folaranmi Abimbola Biodun wrote: “They don’t deserve your attention. They are time wasters. More grace.”

My Father Wanted Me To Be An Engineer Says Jidenna.

Nigerian-born American singer, Jidenna Theodore Mobisson who is in the country for a homecoming tour has said that his father always wanted him to be an engineer.

Speaking to Bella-Naija, the ‘Classic Man’ crooner, said that he initially studied Sound Engineering at Stanford University before switching to Ritualistic Arts, knowing that “Stanford had a ‘million-dollar studio which at the time was not typical in schools.”

Jidenna who is signed to Wondaland Records however, later switched courses.

“So what I wanted to study was the art of rituals – Why do people paint their face before performances, why do we brush our teeth, why do we sing/dance and what does it do to our minds and how do you do this on a larger scale,” said Jidenna.

Jidenna, whose other singles include ‘Yoga’ and ‘Little Bit More’ in the interview also admitted to wanting to do collaborations with Nigerian musicians such as Tiwa Savage, Davido, Wizkid and others.

The artiste also disclosed that his homecoming would be detailed in a documentary.
“It’s also about me going to where I grew up Enugu,” said Jidenna.

“Even though I’m from Imo State but Enugu was where my entire perspective was shaped. As a young child seeing the world, Enugu is where I remember. I think the documentary will focus on me coming home and enjoying the experiences. Going down memory lane and I’m sure new memories will be created.”

Why MTN Sacked Davido,Don Jazzy And Tiwa Savage.

There was a big buzz on Thursday when top telecommunications company MTN announced that he would be retaining the services of some artistes as brand ambassadors, while disengaging some for the year 2016/2017.

The big names that had their contracts suspended include MAVIN’s big boss, Don Jazzy, his First Lady, Tiwa Savage and Omo Baba Olowo, Davido.

While the trio got the axe, the likes of Hafeez Oyetoro (Saka), Nkem Owoh (Osuofia), Chidinma Ekile, Praiz, Iyanya, Falz, Tekno, Skales, Nedu and Adamu Zango will continue smiling to the bank on the bill of the GSM operator.

Though the company declined giving any reason why some were sacked while others were retained, industry watchers and Potpourri in particular believes their decision might have been influenced by scandals some artistes got themselves embroiled in the past months.

For Tiwa Savage, her getting axed may not be unconnected with the crashed marriage and infidelity involving her and ex husband, Tee Billz. Though Tiwa eventually warmed her way into the hearts of her fans by proving to be an angel in that union but it appears MTN didn’t find it amusing.

Davido was never looking like he would be a pricy item this year, not after the brouhaha with his Baby mama, Sofia Momodu, and the resultant face-off with the uncle, Ovation magazine publisher, Dele Momodu. The Dubai child trafficking allegation didn’t help matters either – At least, MTN could have thought so too

On Don Jazzy’s part, his spat with Olamide at the Headies might have been bigger than we thought. Though it was a beef started by Olamide, but Don Jazzy’s conduct after the showdown could have embarassed the Y’ello people.

However, MTN’s General Manager, Consumer Marketing, Richard Iweanoge explained why they are keeping past winners of their Project Fame reality music TV show, which include Inyanya, Chidinma and Praiz, saying “MTN is particularly proud of these musicians because we not only gave them the platform to express their talent through Project FAME, we have consistently supported them over the years by making them our ambassadors.

We are proud to have been able to contribute to some of Nigeria’s biggest music acts.”

Beyond the Project Fame alumni, Iweanoge also said that in order to nurture other artistes so that they too could attain greater heights, MTN would still retain the services of some of its newly-signed brand ambassadors like Falz, Skales and Tekno who are the faces of its youth segment proposition – MTN Pulse.

He added that there will be a renewed focus on building MTN’s digital platforms.
